IberoLam Timber&Technology, a spinoff of the University of Granada, launches IberoLam Timber Academy, a new training forum on wood construction in Spanish.
As a technology-based company born out of the University and the R&D&I project LIFE Wood for Future, IberoLam T&T has in its genes the training of professionals as one of its priority objectives. “Only with good professionals in the whole chain mount-industry-project-work can we make wood construction continue to break barriers between developers and builders,” says its promoter and coordinator of the LIFE project, Antolino Gallego.
“With good professionals in the sector, we will be able to generate demand for our future structural products. For us, training is not only a commitment to our environment, but also a tool to put more wood on the market and promote sustainable forest management,” says IberoLam T&T’s president, Victoria Carreras.
This first package of courses aims to cover most of the stages of a timber construction project. The program consists of 5 courses covering general concepts about wood as a building material (M1), 3D modeling for manufacturing and assembly (M2), calculation (M3), assembly (M4) and rehabilitation (M5). The program will run from June to November 2024 in mixed format, online and face-to-face in Granada. It will be taught by specialist professors in each subject and will include laboratory tests in the framework of the IberoLam-UIMA joint unit.
The M2 and M4 modules are taught by the companies Cadwork Ibérica and Rothoblass with whom IberoLam T&T collaborates actively and fruitfully.
