The coordinator of LIFE Wood for Future and members of the board of directors of the Andalusian spinoff Iberolam Timber & Technology visit the Prefabricados Rodiñas facilities in Curtis, where the prototypes of these innovative mixed wood-concrete structural products are being developed. The Andalusian group thus has first-hand knowledge of the industrial ecosystem of structural timber in Galicia after having also visited Xilonor, Maderas Besteiro, Laminados Villapol, PEMADE and the Impulso Verde building. Its objective is to acquire lessons learned from the sector and to be able to apply them in Andalusia with the implementation of a factory of Andalusian structural wood laminates and mixed wood-concrete (Iberolam T&T), products transferred from the LIFE Wood for Future project.
Jacobo Aboal, Director of Xera (Forestry Industry Agency of the Xunta de Galicia), also joined the visit and explained to the visiting group the strategy of the Xunta de Galicia carried out through XERA for the promotion of the Forestry Industry and the use of local wood in construction. In this way, XERA supports the use of local wood in mixed wood-concrete structural products developed by PEMADE-USC, Prefabricados Rodiñas and UIMA-University of Granada, within the framework of the LIFE Wood for Future Project; products with a lower carbon footprint, with a vocation to reach a large percentage of the building industry, and which represent an added value for local wood.
