As a replicability activity of the project in other regions, today, March 9, 2022, the LIFE Wood for Future project was presented in the region of Guadix, with the collaboration of the Rural Development Group of the region and the irrigation communities. The event was attended by almost thirty poplar grove owners and small poplar grove management companies. The event was organized by the Confederation of Organizations of Foresters of Spain (COSE) and the University of Granada (UGR), in collaboration with the Institute of Agricultural and Fisheries Research and Training (IFAPA) of the Andalusian Government. In addition to disseminating the actions of the project as a whole, the event aimed to present the current developments of the Ecoproducers group, with the intention of gaining the support of landowners. During the event, the participants were made aware of the advantages of using certified plants and following the forestry model proposed in the demonstration plots of LIFE Wood for Future to generate quality and environmentally friendly wood, as well as the need to make a common management plan to achieve group sustainable forest certification within the group.
The project aroused enormous interest and 15 members joined the group. The commitment of LiFE Wood for Future for its replicability in other regions of Granada and Andalusia is firm, determined and absolutely essential to create a strong sector with a sufficient critical mass to defend their interests, improve the quality of wood and ensure a constant supply to the industry.
The 9th edition of the LIFE Wood For Future Newsletter is now available, where you can consult the latest news of the project.
