On behalf of the research teams of the Universities of Santiago de Compostela (USC_Pemade), Granada (UGR-UIMA), and the companies Prefabricados Rodiñas and Iberolam Timber & Technology (spinoff of the UGR), the coordinator Antolino Gallego, presented the innovative structural products of the LIFE Wood for Future project (mixed poplar-pine beams and prefabricated pi slabs for mixed wood-concrete floors), at the I International Congress of Materials for Sustainable Construction held in Granada.
Organized by the Interuniversity Master’s Degree in Advanced Technologies for Sustainable Construction of the University of Cordoba and the University of Granada, the congress, held at the School of Civil Engineering of the University of Granada under the direction of Architectural Constructions professor María Martín, had as its main objective to promote the dissemination of research conducted by graduate, master’s or undergraduate students, focusing on various relevant topics, such as:
– Natural sustainable materials
– Cement-based materials
– Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and carbon footprint
– Circular economy
– Asphalt technologies
– Alkaline activation processes
The meeting will present the results of the LIFE Wood for the Future project, which ends in September of this year. . Representatives of forest owners from all the autonomous communities will meet at the Hotel Luna today and tomorrow.
The 26 photographs selected in the contest organized by the University and the Marjal Producers Association, together with a sound installation, are part of the exhibition at the Galería del Carmen of the Alhama Town Hall.
Organized by the University of Granada, through Medialab UGR of the Vice-Rectorate for Social Innovation, Employability and Entrepreneurship, in collaboration with Salvemos la Vega - Vega Educa and the City Council of Huétor Vega.
A study conducted by IFAPA proves the ability of this crop to take advantage of nitrates in its growth and prevent them from contaminating groundwater. The experiment is part of the LIFE Wood for the Future project, led by the University of Granada.
