The congress on construction with wood and other lignocellulosic materials, LIGNOMAD 25, will be held on September 24, 25 and 26, 2025 in Granada. The event aims to address scientific, technical and constructive aspects related to wood, its derivatives and other natural materials, as well as to present the work developed by its members and collaborators. It will be attended by leading researchers, architects, engineers, builders, manufacturers and other professionals who will share their vision and experience on the use of these materials in the construction sector.
Arquima, Iberolam Timber&Technology, Egoin, PEFC and Cadwork Ibérica & Latinoamérica will participate as exhibitors of their products and services. The congress is currently sponsored by the Directorate General of Forestry Policy and Biodiversity of the Ministry of Sustainability and Environment of the Andalusian Government, the companies Lignumtech and Finsa and the Cívitas Chair of Sustainability of the University of Granada.

Under the model of single room and exhibition area of companies, poster and networking, the conference will be held at the ETS of Architecture of the University of Granada, located in the historic district of Realejo, at the foot of the Alhambra.
The two previous editions were held with great success in Barcelona (LIGNOMAD 2017) and Santiago de Compostela (2019), congresses that were a great revulsive for wood construction in Catalonia and Galicia, respectively, as well as in the whole state. This time, the Lignomad Network has opted for Andalusia, with the aim of also serving as a revulsive for wood construction in southern Spain.
The congress is organized in two intense days of scientific talks, posters and technical talks of the exhibiting companies during September 24 and 25. The main talks will be given by Francisco Arriaga (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid), María Pilar Giraldo (INCAFUST and CTFC), Luis Alfonso Basterra (Universidad de Valladolid) and Jorge Blasco, architect of the m113 studio in Barcelona and professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.
On the 26th the congress will make a tour with various technical visits between the provinces of Granada and Malaga, which will begin with a visit to the Laboratory of the Structural Wood Research Unit of Andalusia, located in the new Campus UGRSostenible in the Sugar Factory of San Isidro, a former sugar factory acquired by the University of Granada. The visit will also include the works of the Visitor Center of the recently declared Sierra de las Nieves National Park in Malaga.
The Congress will be divided into several thematic areas: Characterization of wood species, Wood structures and construction systems, Evaluation techniques and diagnosis of wood structures, Biocomposites based on lignocellulosic materials, Performance of natural materials, Fire performance, Durability, Use of wood and other natural materials in the construction sector, Architectural projects, Rehabilitation of wood structures, treatment, maintenance and preventive conservation of wood structures.

Five companies from Granada have been the winners of the twelfth edition of the Emprendemos Awards in Granada. This initiative, promoted by the Ministry of University, Research and Innovation through Andalucía Emprende, recognized these companies for the innovation they apply to the development of their activities, their growth potential, and their social, economic, and environmental impact.
The meeting will present the results of the LIFE Wood for the Future project, which ends in September of this year. . Representatives of forest owners from all the autonomous communities will meet at the Hotel Luna today and tomorrow.
The 26 photographs selected in the contest organized by the University and the Marjal Producers Association, together with a sound installation, are part of the exhibition at the Galería del Carmen of the Alhama Town Hall.
