Five companies from Granada have been the winners of the twelfth edition of the Emprendemos Awards in Granada, an initiative promoted by the Ministry of University, Research and Innovation, through Andalucía Emprende. They were recognized for the innovation they apply to the development of their activity, their growth potential, and their social, economic, and environmental impact.

In addition, the value they bring to society, based on their contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), was taken into account.

The five winning firms, selected by a jury composed of experts from various organizations dedicated to promoting entrepreneurship in Granada, who received their awards are: Dimphealth S.L., which develops and commercializes portable medical devices for out-of-hospital emergencies, designed by nurses; IberoLam Timber & Technology, S. L. Ingeniería, specializing in the machining of technical timber structures and the manufacture of laminated Andalusian timber beams and prefabricated mixed timber-concrete structural systems.

Also recognized were: Onconature S.L., an innovative health tourism project located in the Alpujarra of Granada, designed to offer oncology patients and their families a space for recovery and learning in a unique natural environment; Vanesa Mesas Cruz (Másdrama), offering cultural and creative industry services through inclusive education and equality tools aimed at protecting heritage and cultural diversity; and Ínsula Sur S.Coop. And, a Granada-based audiovisual production company that transforms local narratives into universal stories.

The provincial awards were celebrated at an event at the headquarters of the Junta de Andalucía in Granada, attended by the delegate of the Andalusian Government in Granada, Antonio Granados, the general director of Andalucía Emprende, Daniel Escacena, and the territorial delegate for Educational Development and Vocational Training and for University, Research and Innovation, María José Martín, among other institutional representatives and Granada business leaders.

The winning Granada companies have directly entered the ranking of the region’s ‘Top50 companies’ with the greatest impact. This will allow them to compete with 45 other companies for the innovative entrepreneurship award at the final gala, which the Ministry of University will hold in Almería on June 26.

The general director of Andalucía Emprende, Daniel Escacena, highlighted the Ministry of University’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurship in the academic field, covering from the earliest educational stages to university.

Specifically, regarding higher education, he emphasized the signing of agreements with all public university system universities to bring Andalucía Emprende’s services closer to campuses, with the idea of facilitating the creation of knowledge and innovation-based companies, without neglecting traditional entrepreneurship, especially in rural areas.

In this regard, he highlighted “the capillarity of this public instrument, which manages 260 Andalusian Entrepreneurship Centers (CADE) throughout the community, 33 of which are located in the province of Granada.”

On another note, Escacena also extended his congratulations to the 15 finalists of the XII Emprendemos Awards in Granada, highlighting their capacity for innovation, as well as the technical staff of Andalucía Emprende who support them in the development of their projects.

“From Andalucía Emprende, we will continue to back you in the search for support, alliances, and accompany you to key entrepreneurship events to promote and increase the visibility of your prototypes,” he concluded. Alongside the five award winners, three other Granada-based companies have been selected as contenders for the Top50 ranking, a distinction given to the 50 most impactful initiatives in the Andalusian entrepreneurial ecosystem.

These are: Cai O Biomedica Sl, which primarily performs preventive reviews of electromedical and laboratory equipment, as well as repairs, and has recently advanced by creating a volumetric and temperature calibration laboratory; Mjingeniería Consulting Obra Civil y Edificación S.L.U, an engineering consultancy specializing in civil works and building tenders and projects; and Urban Green Club Sca, which designs and manufactures urban gardens and composting systems for businesses, educational centers, and municipalities, promoting organic agriculture, environmental education, and circular economy through programs and training that accompany the sale of physical products.

These three firms now advance to a ‘second chance’ phase, where a regional committee will select a total of 10 from the 24 Andalusian companies that ranked sixth, seventh, and eighth in the eight provincial phases held across the community.

Out of the 268 Andalusian applications submitted for the XII Emprendemos Awards, 42 were from the province of Granada. These awards aim to distinguish, support, and give visibility to the most innovative Andalusian companies, both newly created and those up to five years old that are already consolidated.

The regional gala of the XII Emprendemos Awards, organized by Andalucía Emprende, will take place in Almería on June 26. A regional jury composed of leading entrepreneurs, businesspeople, and financing experts will choose the most innovative company in Andalusia from among the 50 finalists at this gala.
