The President of IFAPA, Ms. Marta Bosquet, former president of the Andalusian Parliament, has known firsthand at the IFAPA Camino del Purchil center the progress of the project in the year and a half of activity. After three hours of technical meeting and final visit to the demonstration plots, Marta Bosquet has known the scope of the project and the important role that IFAPA has played, plays and will play to build a value chain of structural technical wood in Andalusia with poplar as a driving species grown on agricultural land in the fertile plains of Granada and Andalusia.
Aspects such as establishing a long-term stable nursery of certified plant stock, research and transfer of new clones and management systems of poplar trees to produce quality wood, as well as the training of owners and farmers through collaboration with the Marjal group, have been considered essential to develop by IFAPA to ensure this ecosystem.
It has also stressed the importance of working on other aspects such as the promotion of aid to owners of poplar groves and the need for research into new structural products based on the veneer by unrolling through a new scientific infrastructure in collaboration with the University of Granada. Marta Bosquet has known firsthand the countless environmental benefits provided by poplar trees, especially in its role of filtering and natural purification of wastewater, aquifer recharge with clean water, and mitigation of climate change and buffering pollution.
