Today, February 24, LIFE Wood for Future, through the Diputación de Granada and the University of Granada, organized a day of awareness and training on conservation and restoration of riverbanks in the Vega de Granada and the use of native species in the Dilar river with students of the 1st year of Bachillerato of the IES Zaidín-Vergeles de Granada, guided by volunteers from the citizen association Bosques para el Futuro, a partner of the project. They visited two very contrasting stretches, one in Cúllar-Vega, very deteriorated and without vegetation or flow, and another upstream in the municipality of Dílar, with native vegetation and natural flow. The students learned and became aware of the objectives of the LIFE project regarding the restoration of at least 2 km of the Dílar river bank and the establishment of a nursery of native riparian species in the Diputación de Granada. The students actively participated with numerous questions and concerns throughout the visit and were enthusiastic about the restoration project.
