The Centro de Interpretación de la Vega del Secadero de Belicina (Vegas del Genil) hosted on May 5, 2023 a seminar on the environmental and cultural benefits of poplar.
The improvement of biodiversity, the positive impact on the aquifer of the Vega, the innumerable benefits for human health, the landscape value for enjoyment and art, covered the seminar through brief presentations by members of the University of Granada (Lucía García, Antonio Castillo and Aurora Bueno) as well as the Forestry and Landscape Engineer, Ignacio Morón.
After its completion and guided by the Professor of Painting at the University of Granada, Consuelo Vallejo, a visit was made to the photographic exhibition on the I Concurso de Choperas de Granada, located for several days in this magnificent space of the Vega de Granada.
The event was inaugurated by the Mayor of Vegas del Genil and UGR professor Adelaida Martín, and supported by the Agrupación Marjal, the Diputación de Granada, the Cívitas-UGR Chair and the University of Granada.
The event and the exhibition are part of a cycle that began on March 16 at the Aljibe del Rey (Granada Water Foundation), which will travel around the province of Granada. The next event in this cycle will take place in Guadix on October 5, 2023.
