Nocla Demonstration Farm enters its second year of planting

Just over a year ago 430 poplars were planted in "La Nocla", only a month and a half after the farm had been ceded by the City Council of Granada to Salvemos la Vega-Vega Educa, as a demonstration plot of the project "LIFE Wood For Future", led by the UGR and in which we actively participated since its gestation.

POPLAR GROVES CONTINUE TO BE PLANTED IN THE MARSHLANDS

Last Saturday, March 11, ended one of the most representative demonstration plantations of the LIFE Wood for the Future project implemented within the COSE actions. Specifically, the plantation of the family of architects De la Torre-Castellano, located in the upper valley of the Genil River.

LIFE WFF collaborates with the Centro de Capacitación y Experimentación Forestal de Cazorla

Members of the LIFE Wood for Future team have participated today in a day of field practices on timber harvesting with students of the higher level training cycle "Higher Technician in Forestry and Natural Environment Management" of the Center for Forestry Training and Experimentation of Cazorla, located in Vadillo-Castril within the Natural Park of the Sierra de Cazorla Segura and Las Villas and managed by the Junta de Andalucía.

Forestry and construction sectors unite in a conference in Cazorla

Before ninety attendees, the Teatro de la Merced in Cazorla, hosted on March 3 a conference on the opportunity of wood and forestry in the construction sector, which aims to give economic value to the forest under a sustainable use and fight against the unstoppable depopulation in the area and promote prevention against major fires. Organized by AFA-Profor and LIFE Wood for Future, the event was inaugurated by the Mayor of Cazorla, as a beautiful host city of the event, the Deputy of Infrastructures of the Provincial Council of Jaén, the territorial Delegate of the Ministry of Sustainability, Environment and Blue Economy and the Director General of Forestry Policy of the Junta de Andalucía.

Construction of the Demonstration Building at La Azulejera announced

The Consejería de Fomento, Articulación del Territorio y Vivienda de la Junta de Andalucía promotes through AVRA (Agencia de la Vivienda y Rehabilitación de Andalucía) the construction of a pilot demonstration building of the mixed wood-concrete prefabricated product, MCLamBS, developed in the LIFE Wood for Future project.

LIFE Wood for Future presents its spinoff model at Sannas Business Association

On March 17, Francisco Rescalvo, PhD of the University of Granada, presented at the Cosecha Sannas event the spinoff strategy to launch from the LIFE Wood for Future project an industrial ecosystem based on local wood from Andalusia.

LIFE Wood for Future celebrates one and a half years of life

After 18 months of work, the LIFE Wood for Future project has exceeded 4,000 attendees at project events and 300 news items in the written or digital press. The poplar, the tree of the people, was also the protagonist in the Inaugural Lecture of the Academic Year at the University of Granada in September 2022.

Tras tres horas de reunión técnica y visita final a las parcelas demostrativas, Marta Bosquet ha conocido el alcance del proyecto y el importante papel que el IFAPA ha jugado, juega y jugará para construir una cadena de valor de la madera técnica estructural en Andalucia con el chopo como especie impulsora del mismo cultivada en terrenos agrícolas de las vegas de Granada y Andalucia.
