LIFE Wood for Future at the 1st International Congress on Local Action on Climate Change

The I International Congress of Local Action against Climate Change, organized by the Granada Climate Board, was held in Granada from November 8 to 13, 2021. Its objective has been to address how the urban environment can confront new climate reality through mitigation / adaptation policies that encompass all agents.

LIFE Wood for Future participates in the International Populus 360 Conference

The LIFE Wood for Future project team participated in the POPULUS 360 International Conference held on October 21 and 22, 2021 at the School of Agricultural and Forestry Engineering located in the Ponferrada Campus of the University of León. The conference was characterized by the presence of professionals of the sector who are referents in Spain, Italy, Belgium, Chile and Argentina.

The LIFE Timber for the Future project proposes to to recover the poplar groves of La Vega as a shock plan against pollution in the Metropolitan Area

The LIFE Wood for Future/Madera para el Futuro project, which has just obtained funding from the European Union's LIFE Program [LIFE 20 CCA/ES/001656], has proposed to Granada's institutions to collaborate in a shock plan to recover the poplar groves of the Vega as an effective instrument in the fight against air pollution in the Metropolitan Area of Granada.

Ceulemans highlights the importance of poplar as a greenhouse gas reducer under LIFE Wood for Future

On October 1, 2021, a scientific talk entitled "Short-rotation forestry for bio-energy reduces greenhouse gas emissions and contributes to climate change mitigation" was given by Prof. Dr. Reinhart Ceulemans, professor emeritus at the University of Antwerp (Belgium), held in the CEAMA Conference Room and broadcast live via Google Meet.

LIFE Wood for Future meets with landowners in the Vega of Granada

Last Saturday, September 25, the LIFE Wood for Future project team met with 30 owners of poplar groves in the Vega de Granada in the facilities of the Andalusian Institute of Agricultural Research and Training, Fisheries, Food and Organic Production (IFAPA).

Launching of the European project LIFE Wood for Future

Last Friday, September 24, 2021, the Rector of the University of Granada, Pilar Aranda, chaired the launching ceremony of the European project LIFE Wood Future for the recovery of the poplar groves of the Vega de Granada to improve the environment, biodiversity and promote the economy, industry and low-carbon construction in the province of Granada through the development and demonstration of new structural products based on poplar wood.
